Recoil Shooter Game

So, in FPS games, there are a number of things at work that determine your accuracy, as you know.Excuse me if these terms are something you already know. Recoil is something you have to adjust for. There are several ways to tackle recoil in FPS games. The two seemingly popular ways to deal with recoil are- Physically moving the crosshair or increasing the weapon spread while shooting. Here are two examples of physically moving the crosshair: America's Army 2.0 and STALKER.

I recently had an interesting conversation about recoil and wanted to spark that conversation here. There are several ways to tackle recoil in FPS games. The two seemingly popular ways to deal with recoil are- Physically moving the crosshair or increasing the weapon spread while shooting.
Here are two examples of physically moving the crosshair: America's Army 2.0 and STALKER. When you shoot weapons in these games, your crosshair physically moves and the FPS camera orientation actually rotates (usually upwards and to the side). You yourself must physically correct for the offset caused by the recoil. This is seen in quite a few of PC shooters because correcting for recoil yourself with a controller can prove difficult. This is an example of Americas Army shooting. It is difficult to see the recoil because the player correcting is it himself.
Call of Duty is known for popularizing increasing the spread the more you shoot from the hip (Note: Call of duty does physically move your iron sights when you sight up though, but it seems to follow the hip fire weapon spread in some manner). You become more inaccurate the more rapidly you shoot. Spraying and praying is quite literal if you are rapidly firing from the hip.
Counter Strike is a really fascinating example because it combines these two in a lot of different ways. Lets take the m249 as an extreme example... if you hold down the fire button (and even move while you shoot) your weapon spread increases and your camera orientation changes/ your crosshair physically moves.
I personally like when the crosshair physically moves. I enjoy being able to exactly account for my weapon's recoil. What games do you think handled recoil in a fun / unique / cool way? And what 'style' of recoil do you generally prefer?
